Character thingy

14 min read
-------------Quiz/ Skip to the non bold----------------------------

1) What are your characters’ names?
Jahel, Kel, Siren

2) How old are they?
(Since their age varies so much I’m just gonna put when I made these ppl)
Jahel was created sometime during middle school; I dun remember exactly when.
Kel was created maybe a little bit before middle school…yah hes ooooold lmao
Siren is pretty recent.

3) Are they boys or girls?
Jahel and Kelly are boys, Siren is a girl :D

4) What are their "races"?
;;Jahel: pfffff I like AU’s, don’t judge me. I’m gonna go with his very first, though, which was an adaption of the Devil, i.e. some demony devil thing.
Which isn’t too different from what I plan for him when I can get enough skill at comic making. Dx

;;Kel: oddly enough he too started off as some demon thing. However that fell apart pretty quickly so…I’m just gonna say that Kel is usually one of those character-types who show up in stories at the most opportune times and are the big mysterious ones with the haunted pasts. Yeah…dat sounds about right.
At the present, most of the time he’s played as a Branded Heron (in Fire Emblem world), but in the big story I wanna make he is a human who went through some unusual circumstances and is now kinda stuck “in-between”.
Other scenarios (due to his white skin) that I find interesting but I don’t really have any thing to use for is as a Sidhe, a vampire or a Kitsune.

;;Siren: A Raven. She started off as that and I haven’t had the time to use her too much, so that’s all she got for now rofl xD

{ A P P E A R A N C E }

1) If they were to suddenly become part of the real world, and ended up in a heavily-populated area, how many stares would they get?

;;Jahel: I dunno, that’s kind of hard. I mean he’s like 6’8’’ – 6’9’’ and anyone who’s that tall gets looks automatically. He might also get attention from his metrosexual hair and…some mannerisms lol. But Jahel adapts easily and is charismatic so he wouldn’t mind being dropped off in a crowd somewhere.

;;Kel: I’d look. :T People might just think he has extreme albinism and/or vitiligio tho. I don’t think people would think he was a guy at first glance either LOL so no problems there. Yet.

;;Siren: I think Siren would stick out the best thanks to her huge black wings. Dx That and her crazy goth clothing…though they might just think she was a rly good cosplayer, idk.

2) Are they considered normal in their own worlds?

(gonna go with the Fire Emblem one for dis)

;;Jahel: Yes? I mean he is sort of royalty but hawks are pretty common I think.

;;Kel: no :C lol branded-heron aren’t considered the norm I don’t think.

;;Siren: Yeah. She’s a raven. Like hawks, there are ravens aplenty ;P

3) What would be their most recognizable feature(s)?

;;Jahel: Probably his height. Also his hair. And his voice. And the way it has this sort of slow, slight southern drawl to it that sounds lazy and is deliberately like that to put you off guard.
And his pretteh pretteh face =3=
But he’s sociopathic 8C

;;Kel: like his skin and his hair and how white everything is lawl

;;Siren: hmmm. I suppose her eyes. They’re nice and slanted and dark and I love dark eyes. =3=

4) Would you consider them attractive?

Yes

lol

{ P E R S O N A L I T Y }

1) Tempers?
;;Jahel: he’s a bit hard to explain I think. Dx As a sociopath Jahel is capable of emotions but has no conscience, and so can usually only feel in a shallow, surface kind of way. When he seems angry it is usually because it is beneficial to him or that he feels it is appropriate for the situation.  Most of the time he prefers to look calm and composed (with a side of banter and offhand wit), and values that highly in other people as well. It is incredibly hard for any one to make Jahel angry in a way that is totally not fabricated. I mean you’d really have to be trying. Or I dunno…hit him or something.
And even then it’s hard to tell because Jahel is an excellent actor/liar.
He does feel intense emotions at times though and no one wants to see them. Dx

;;Kel: Yes. xD Kel gets angry really fast. Well maybe I shouldn’t say angry…just kinda pissy. He also holds grudges and is incredibly stubborn which makes him remain unapologetic until someone else apologizes first. But for all that he’s really not that bad when he’s angry…which is to say that he is not completely unreasonable.
Seriously though he gets mad at the smallest things. Lol

;;Siren: omai I seem to using all my angry people today lol. Siren is one of those types who throw temper tantrums and then sort of forget about it in an hour or two. They come kinda swift and hard and then fade away as she finds more practical things to focus one.
However, out of all of them, Siren is most likely to completely flip-side at the most frequent rate resulting in loss of property and injury.

2) Does they ever get depressed?

;;Jahel: 99.999999% of the time, no. xD His policy is “Fuck depression, pain isn’t real” BUT he does have strange borderline-bipolar moments where he most remembers his lost lover. =3= and then he just kinda spaces out, idk. But he gets over it sort of fast and afterwards it is never mentioned again.

;;Kel: Yes. Dx I always give him a shitty life lmao. So he has a lot to mope about. In fact in all of my rp’s and writing I try to pay particular attention to the rate at which he smiles/laughs which is not very often.

;;Siren: NAAAH. Siren gets mad but she never gets really depressed. About anything. If she’s slighted, then she just gets even. >:I

3) Leader or Follower?

;;Jahel: A natural leader. Sociopathy is often mistaken for “charisma”. However lack of conscience also gives him a surprisingly analytic view of things. He’s intelligent too, ambitious, manipulative and resourceful. Though he can be ruthless, there is no denying that he gets things done and makes sure that it’s WELL done or so help you god >:I
By no means is he completely a tyrant, though. He is well-loved by everyone who does not know him well enough and even those he’s close to.
He’s just got this charm. >3> It suckers yew in.

;;Kel: Definitely a follower. I mean at times he can step up and take control, and he does it decently, but…he’d just prefer not to. He’s much more of an introvert than an extrovert and so he doesn’t communicate very well. Besides he’s a little indecisive and his pissy-ness can cause some problems.
Kel loooooves leaders though. Mmhm. >u<

;;Siren: A leader, albeit a scary one. She’s got a temper, true, but she knows her business and would definitely not settle as a follower. If she’d ever find herself forced to be “part of the pack” you can depend on her doing everything in her power to get her on top again. And she’s really not that bad of a leader. Just a bit wild.

4) What are the main aspect(s) of their personalities?

;;Jahel: HMMMM MAIN ASPECTS, eh. Er. Ok. Well I think what lies at the very very very core of Jahel’s personality is he rampant ambition. In every AU it takes over him and seeps in his mind like a poison. The problem with this is that Jahel (due to his lack of conscience and/or his intrinsic personality) will do ANYTHING to fulfill this ambition, and that includes murdering recent friends/lovers/innocents. What follows is all the other traits: narcissism, impulsiveness, lack of regret, etc. etc.

;;Kel: Kelly’s a bit harder! Dx I’m really not sure what a main aspect would be. He has a lot of sides to him and a lot of contradictions. He’s proud but sweet-natured; arrogant yet modest; envious but tolerant; quiet and sarcastic but has spontaneous bursts of playfulness. His mood often reflects that. He’s actually a pretty emotional guy lol.

;;Siren: Sarcasm? Siren is a clear misanthrope and distrusts everyone nearly on sight. She likes herself some schaudenfraude, too. In any case Siren is a hard person to get along with.

{ H I S T O R Y }

1) Do they have a family of any sort?
If so, are they still alive?

;;Jahel: Has a single son named Rhett. Illegitimate cus he is irresponsible like that. Also probably a lot more illegitimate children he doesn’t know about lmao.

;;Kel: He always has a mother who he has a hate/love relationship for, but she always dies. I rarely put in a dad and imply that he died before he was born. In every AU he’s always some orphan with some kinda skin condition lol.
No kids or nothin’

;;Siren: In some  AU’s, Rhett is also her son. >3>
Other than that, she has a father and a mother like any normal person but chooses not to talk to them very much. They’re kind of old and decrepit and as selfish as she is.

2) Are they out on their own? If so, why?

;;Jahel: Jahel is always surrounded by people day and night. :0 if he weren’t he would be horribly bored and would complain often.

;;Kel: yes, mostly, but he’s come to prefer it I think. SOMEtimes he likes socialization and is always secretly excited when someone shows they are interested in him as a person >u<

;;Siren: Nah. She’s a misanthrope but that doesn’t mean she’s not surrounded by em every day. It’s a necessity and one she frequently exploits.

3) Have they encountered any traumatizing events?

;;Jahel: NO. JAHEL HAS NO TRAUMATIZING EVENTS. HE MAKES THEM.

;;Kel: His whole life is a traumatizing event xDD His mother went crazy on him and then died and he grew up completely outside of a normal childhood with no clear role models AND he sees dead people all the time and he is surrounded by violence and shocking things and is left on his own in a cold countryside by ppl who continually tell him that they care about him deeply. Also he is poor and received no decent education.
So now he is kind of neurotic and has this dependency complex, with a very inaccurate view of how relationships should be because he doesn’t know any better. >m<

;;Siren: err, well in some AU’s where Siren had Jahel’s kid, at the time she definitely didn’t want it. So she gave it to Jahel to take care of. This became a traumatizing event later when she realized that she deeply regretted letting go of her kid.

4) What were probably the best times in their life so far?

;;Jahel: WELL. So far? I guess when he was married? Or when he was told he had a baby son. >u<

;;Kel: NOTHING I DO NOT GIVE KEL HAPPY MOMENTS. >>>>:C
he hates me ;m; I’m a bad mom

;;Siren: Thieving has always been particularly exhilarating for Siren. xD

{ R O M A N C E }

1) Virgin?

;;Jahel: lolololololollolo
;;Kel: Seems like it, don’t he?
;;Siren: nope

2) Do your characters like flirting?

;;Jahel: But of course! It is like his livelihood. He loves makin the ladies blush =3=

;;Kel: no. 8C;;; and if he tried it would come out severely awkward.

;;Siren: She doesn’t make a regular habit out of it, but Siren can be a temptress when she wants to be. She usually waits for someone to initiate though.

{ S Y M B O L I S M }

1) What animals would you associate them with?

;;Jahel: The obvious choice would be eagle and it really does fit him. However I’d also have to say lion… Idk.

;;Kel: A snake! Most definitely. Pretty, sleek, silent and somewhat of a loner but with a deadly bite when agitated. >:I grrr

;;Siren: Well again, the obvious crow. But if I must be creative then…a panther? …Well ok so that’s not very creative.

2) Musical Instruments?
;;Jahel: Guitar?
;;Kel: Violin
;;Siren: the fucking oboe!!1

3) Elements?
;;Jahel: Fire
;;Kel: Ice
;;Siren: Water or Dark

4) Planets?
;;Jahel: Jupiter or Mars. But prolly Jupiter.
;;Kel: Dx Pluto? Oh wait…Pluto’s not a planet anymore baww. Dx soo, Uranus or Neptune, prollyyy
;;Siren: Saturn…I guess

{ S H O W t e h L O V E }

1) Do you draw them?
Yes to all of them. xD

2) Do you write about them?
Yeeeep

3) Do you use them in any rpgs?
Jahel and Kel are primarily on :iconfireemblem-bts: . Siren is on an rp at rpol.net

4) What other ways have you appreciated them?
doing stuff like this >:V

{ R A N D O M }

1) Are they wanted for anything?
;;Jahel: Wanted? Wanted like…the posters in the Wild West? THEN YES
for being a douschebag if nothing else

;;Kel: Well he assassinators people, so there’s something xD

;;Siren: For stealin things all the time.

2) What are three weaknesses in them?
Jahel:
Narcissism
Over-confidence
Complete unempathy

Kel:
Summat gullible, trusts too easily once that first wall is broken down
Dependency complex thing
Uneducated

Siren:
Greed
Selfish-ness
Unempathetic

3) Strengths?

Jahel:
Physical strength
Intelligence
Strong leadership

Kel:
Highly trained in stealth and melee
Resourcefulness
Wisdom

Siren:
Strong leadership
Cunning
Good speaker

4) Do they drink or smoke (ect.)?
Jahel does both. I don’t think Kel or Siren smokes but they drink from time to time?

5) What's one quirk about them?

;;Jahel: uhh. He’s got a lot. He loves seafood? And he has this thing about his hair.

;;Kel: likes cold way more than he likes heat.

;;Siren: is fond of cats.

6) Do they have any phobias?
Jahel: not rly. Well, maybe dirty-ness, but I wouldn’t call that a phobia. More of an OCD or something.
Kel: spiders. xDD
Siren: none that I can think of.

7) What could you do to get them into a blind rage?
Jahel: Like I said that’s pretty damn hard. Dx He gets rage-ful at times, but it is seldom blind.
Kel: I dunno just smack him or something pretty much anything sets him off lawl
Siren: Show any insurrection/insolence towards her. xD

8) Do they like chickens?
Jahel: yes. TO EAT THEM (cannibalism?)
Kel: Same as Jahel surprisingly lol
Siren: No >3<

The Final Question
What would you consider your relationships
with Jinx and Joey to be like?

Wow I have no idea who they are

More video-game discussion time!

Let me just start off by saying that I am a huge Zelda fan. Ever since Ocarina of Time came out I was one of many who jumped on the Legend of Zelda fantardism and have been following it avidly ever since (though I've been slipping a bit, particularly on the newer DS games). While Wind Waker certainly shook my foundations summat, I still bought it and, though I was hoping for a more CHALLENGING (this is going to be a key word for the remainder of this essay, folks) I still enjoyed it for its gameplay.

ok. Well, a few months (?) ago this came out. wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/art… Needless to say, I was all hyped up for it. This new artwork made the new game look exciting and mature. I was MORE than happy that they seemed to be following the style they had pursued in Twilight Princess.

Now here's the trailer: kotaku.com/5564326/zelda-skywa…

goddamnit.

"But, Day," you say. "You shouldn't judge the game so soon. Just look at Wind Waker!"

Well let me clarify what I said. I did enjoy Wind Waker. It was a fun, charming game on many levels, and a polite and innocent distraction from everyday life. What it DIDN'T have, however, was the atmosphere it had in OoT and Majora's Mask.
Okay, Nintendo is known for aiming its products towards kids. I get that. But that didn't stop them before: before they made an edgy, darker world that was different and even challenging for younger audiences, while still making it accessible to their older consumers. It was mature and had darker themes without going to the extreme. It offered interesting puzzles and the gameplay was presented with a sort of urgency, what with your beloved Hyrule turning into Zombietown and/or the moon threatening to drop over your head. I'd say Twilight Princess followed that pattern, and the relief I felt that they were going to revert back from the Windwaker style is beyond description. I thought that, after this, Nintendo would open their minds a little and have at LEAST one franchise, owned exclusively to them, that would be their answer to awesome games like Dragon Age or The Witcher.

That being said, no, I'm not entirely condemning Skyward Sword before I try it out. I'll probably be buying it. But the trailer alone has filled me with, well, disappointment - that Nintendo seems entirely disinterested in stepping out of their comfort zone. I mean, accessibility is all they seem to care about these days. I'm not denying that all the games they make are generally entertaining, but what about an engaging world with all the little details filled in (like Oblivion) or an intricate, original plot (like Mass Effect)?
If you really think about it, Nintendo has just been doing the same things over and over and over. Take a look at Mario. He's been stuck in the same cycle ever since his conception. Save the Princess. So's Link. When you get to the bare bones of each and every game, at the VERY core of it it's the saaaame exact thing.

This satisfied me as a kid. But now I'd like an edgy world, suspenseful, with some development in it. From the trailer, it's clear that they're really focusing on the gameplay, what with that strange flying contraption - they're just going for gimmicks, so to speak, instead of focusing on the soul or body of the story. In other words, Nintendo just wants you to take an interesting splurge in their little 2D world instead of you fully being immersed in it.

Think that's too much for kids? WELL NINTENDO, your Zelda fanbase is growing up >:I. In fact I may accuse them of misleading me from the awesome route I THOUGHT they were going from OoT to the horrible disappointment I'm feeling right now.

Just look at all these fucking colors. www.zeldauniverse.net/wp-conte… gawd. it burns my eyes.

I GUESS MY POINT IS, I was REALLY hoping to see an OoT-like Zelda with the updated graphics of the Wii, and I find myself hopelessly abandoned. ;m; shame on you Nintendo. You broke my heart.

...

But I'm kind of looking forward to Pokemon White/Black. I'm already in love with that Electric Zebra thing. SHIMAMAMAAAAAAAA
